Key features of the MSc course
The Master of Science in Design for the Built Environment – DBE – aims. at training an advanced professional profile who’s able to manage product and system innovation in emerging fields, such as industrial productions, evolved crafts, environmental design and design for the enhancement of Cultural Heritage. The Course aims at providing a deep knowledge of the context of industrial and technological production, with the purpose to improving qualitative aspects of design for contemporary spaces, needs and activities such as product environmental requirements and sustainable design strategies. The DBE course aims at building a creative and technical approach in line with the products and services market conditions, enterprise culture and aware of innovative processes.
The MSc offers two curricula:
- Exhibit Design
The ‘Exhibit Design’ curriculum intends to train specialised figures in the field of applied design to interiors, to the components and systems that define them, to the objects and artefacts that equip them, to the communication of the contents and values expressed, with particular reference to the principles of living in the domestic sphere, to temporary, museum and commercial fittings, to the staging of events and shows, to set design and all the objects, furnishings, structures and components capable of determining the quality and performance of space, whether they derive from industrial production or from craft-type production chains.
- Digital Design
The ‘Digital Design’ curriculum intends to train specialised figures in the sector of the production of digital products, services and systems, strongly oriented towards innovation, in which the component of digital and communicative interaction is pre-eminent, who know how to dialogue with an evolved and emerging clientele, such as that of accessibility, design for everyone, frontier themes of the digital industry, multimedia communication, augmented reality (IoT, makers, app development, user centred design, interaction design, A.R.).

Eligibility and Admission Guidelines
To apply students must have obtained a bachelor degree or first degree or undergraduate degree, usually a three or four years course of at least 180 ECTS, in one of the following fields of study:
- Industrial Design
- Architecture
- Engineering
- Fine Arts
Language Requirement:
Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English equivalent to B2 level (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
